Game 7, Baby!!!
What a game!!! The energy in the arena tonight was similar to the energy of game #3 in the Ottawa series. Intense and loud!!! Tonight’s game was just amazing to watch - all the players played well and it was especially awesome to have Teppo Numminen back out on the ice after suffering a groin injury earlier in the month…he only played a few minutes, so I don’t know if that means his injury was acting up or they were just using him as a scare tactic…Jay McKee played almost the entire game…and looked exhausted…
And how about that Ryan Miller?!!!! He was great tonight - made a ton of huge saves…I’d say by far that he’s the best goalie in hockey. I said earlier that Martin Brodeur was the best goalie in hockey, but he obviously didn’t live up to that during the Devils-Carolina series.
Game #7 should be the most exciting game, although tonight was pretty amazing!!!
Must Win
Well, obviously it’s a must win game tonight. They played fairly well in Sunday’s game, but I’d like to see more production from Briere, Dumont and something from Afinogenov…he is either really good or terrible…
We’re going to the game tonight, so fingers crossed…and no rioting like in Edmonton…it’s just the conference final…

Tough Loss
So, this was the toughest loss so far…because we played fairly well…but I have to admit that I don’t like our chances so much now that we lost tonight…we were on fire in overtime, but then again, I guess that they were, too…
Tuesday’s game is going to be pivotal for more than one reason…fingers crossed, carrying my four-leaf clover…
Perfect Weekend So Far…
Well, it’s Saturday in the late afternoon. Friday night, we went out and watched the Sabres struggle in their 4-0 defeat by Carolina.
Yesterday, I went for a nice, long walk in Delaware Park with a friend and then we went down to the Globe Market for lunch. After lunch, I went and played tennis with my another friend and we had dinner at Coles, followed by drinks at Laughlin’s…
Today, I spent the morning and early afternoon with my family and then went to the tennis courts on Nottingham Terrace with my brother and a friend. I basked in the sun while they played tennis.
Tonight, we’re going down to Dunn Tire Park to watch the Sabres (hopefully) bring home a win down in Carolina. I have a good feeling - a lot of my friends went down for the game!
Not too much planned for tomorrow…it’s supposed to be a scorcher!!! What a way to spend a beautiful holiday weekend and mark the start of the summer!
“Prison of the Psychotic Damned”
On June 23rd at 6pm EST, Red Scream Films LLC, in association with The Central Terminal Restoration Corporation, Buffalo Nickel Productions, Sound Video Solutions, Fright World and The Voodoo Dollies will present a sneak peek screening of the feature film Prison of the Psychotic Damned to Benefit the Buffalo Central Terminal restoration efforts. Prison of the Psychotic Damned is the first feature film by Buffalo based production company Red Scream Films LLC. This suspense-horror film is about five ghost hunters who come to the Terminal to investigate whether or not it really deserves its reputation as one of the most haunted places in the world. When the sun sets they find the terrifying answer. Prison of the Psychotic Damned was shot on location in the Western New York area with the majority of the film shot inside the Buffalo Central Train Terminal. The film was directed and edited by D.W. Kann from a screenplay by Red Scream Films LLC CEO David R Williams who also produced. Plans call for several of the film’s cast, including stars Melantha Blackthorne and Demona Bast, to attend. They will answer questions about the film and sign autographs. “This will be a unique film experience,” said Williams, “The audience will not only be the first audience to get to see this film outside a small group of production people, but they will also get the opportunity to watch the film where it was shot.” Built in 1929, the Central Terminal is a massive art deco masterpiece that time, weather, uncaring owners, and vandals have not been kind to. “The purpose of this event is not to promote our film,” said Williams, “The purpose is to help restore the Buffalo Central Terminal. We were shooting here for a full nine days and everybody, cast and crew alike, fell in love with the place and by the end of the shoot, nobody wanted to leave. This is our way of giving something back and hopefully generating publicity for the terminal and the efforts of the CTRC to save it.” Digital Projection equipment is being provided by Sound Video Solutions. punk girl-band The Voodoo Dollies will perform the opening credits song “Suffer Cake” as well as several other numbers. Special BCT copies of the film will be available for purchase.

Memorial Day
As we begin the celebration of this weekend, let’s remember why we’re celebrating. We should all be very grateful to those who have given their lives for us. This is a weekend that marks the beginning of the summer, but it’s true importance is much more signficant. Please remember that as you celebrate with family and friends! Enjoy the weekend!
Bigger Things…
So, by now you all know that I am a sports junkie. I was out at Wild Wings with friends last night to watch the game. And although I’ve been to tons of football and hockey games in Buffalo, it’s always very interesting to be around fans in a bar and restaurant setting.
Some of the fans around us last night were just beside themselves. It was a tough game to watch. True. But screaming and swearing (yes I’ve done both during sporting events) and throwing things isn’t the answer. My heart bled when we lost 4 superbowls. Wide Right. No Goal. I’m there with you.
But here’s the other thing. In the grand scheme of things, of life in general, there are a lot of other, bigger and more important things happening right now in this world. Our brilliant goalie, Ryan Miller, noted this in a recent news article.
There is a war in Iraq. There is fighting in Afghanistan. Genocide is taking place in Darfur, Sudan in Africa. We have a crisis with immigrants coming into this country. There is poverty beyond words here and abroad.
Sometimes it’s important to take a step back and think about what’s really important. Sports are great, but they’re entertainment. Period.
“Flipped”
“Flipped” Documentary Premiere at the Adam Mickiewicz Library and Dramatic Circle at 612 Fillmore Avenue on Thursday June 8th at 6PM.
If you want to see a preview, here’s the trailer.
“Flipped” is an important expose about the frequently unethical yet marginally legal practice of marketing and sales of houses through internet auctions.
“Flipping” is often fraught with false advertising, unethical business practices, devastating financial losses, extended housing vacancies leading to vandalism and demolitions by neglect, but tidy profits for unscrupulous sellers and agents. Their targets are in the poorest areas of the east and west sides of our city.
This documentary is an honest and emotional look at the truth about a “victimless” crime and is a must-see for all local politicians and concerned homeowners alike. There is a $5 admission charge and tickets will be available at the door. The screening will begin promptly at 6PM and there will be a question and answer period immediately following.
Featuring:
-Buffalo Housing Court Judge Henry Nowak
-Buffalo Housing Inspector Tracy Krug
-Broadway Fillmore Housing Court Liaison Michele Johnson
-Nickel City Media & Entertainment’s Marc Odien
-Buffalo Common Councilman Nick Bonifacio
-Many concerned east and west side residents
We must warn you in advance: this film may be difficult to watch, but we urge you to see it and become informed! Together, as a community, we can stop the losses and destruction caused by internet housing flipping. For more information regarding the premiere, click here.
Can’t Win Them All
Well, they say that we can’t win them all and that’s certainly true of tonight. For only the second time in the playoffs, the Sabres didn’t score first. And Ryan Miller played well, but there was certainly one goal that he might have been able to stop…from my point of view, anyhow.
Let’s hope that they come back to Buffalo fired up to win the next two games at home - I’m sure the crowd will be great at both games…I won’t be there, but I have a lot of friends who will be!!!
Don’t let it get you down…it’s only one game…and there are 5 more left in this series - plenty of time to win!
