Shakespeare in Delaware Park

Delaware Park Hoyt Lake

Every summer, this section of Delaware Park is transfored into the stage for two productions of works by William Shakespeare. Last night, several hundred people gathered to watch the 12th night of “Twelfth Night” at the bottom of the hill.

Shakespeare in Delaware Park has been running for 31 years. During every performance, they collect cash donations from the audience, which helps them sustain, especially in a year like this, where budget cuts lost most of their funding.

It was wonderful to see so many people there last night…crowds of them…”Free Will”

The Perfect Buffalo Day

Today is my Perfect Buffalo Day. About 75 degrees outside, sunny and just a few clouds in the sky. I can’t imagine a better day! Very low humidity - always a plus, especially after our balmy weather last week. I’m looking forward to getting out and running this afternoon and having dinner outside tonight…nothing better!!

“Alive” Night!

“Alive Night” Party on Friday August 11th at 7PM at Arty’s Grill and Tavern at 508 Peckham St. and Memorial Dr. (at the foot of the Central Terminal) The good folks at Broadway Fillmore Alive and Arty’s Grill (508 Peckham St. at Memorial Drive) would like to cordially invite you to share some good times with them at their first planned social gathering of the summer! There are many things that symbolize the special feeling that IS Broadway Fillmore Alive: the grassroots revitalization efforts of Corpus Christi and St. Stanislaus churches and the Central Terminal, to name just a few. These efforts are fueled by the perseverance of neighbors, former neighbors and people from elsewhere in the region who just care enough about the area and its people to come and help out. Arty’s is the perfect place to celebrate these efforts, as it has been a neighborhood cornerstone for more than three decades and welcomes any and all visitors with friendly smiles, great times and inexpensive drinks. It truly is a place “where everybody knows your name”! So, come on out and join us, celebrate summer in an historic neighborhood and experience some of the goodness that we all cherish in the Broadway Fillmore area. You’ll have a great time and want to come back for more! For directions and more information, please visit our website at www.broadwayfillmorealive.org. Broadway Fillmore Alive is a group of concerned citizens whose goal is to work together with community groups, businesses, residents, churches and other organizations to help promote, preserve and revitalize the Broadway-Fillmore area.

Fire in the Park!

Buffalo is in the middle of a heat wave the Infringement Festival, and now that our performances are over (did you see me on the cover of Gusto?) I can check out some of the other great acts. Tonight a troupe of fire dancers from Montreal performed in Days Park, in front of a crowd of nearly 100 people. The show was fun, outside, and best of all it was free!
