Goodbye, 2006

It seems like only yesterday I was ringing in the brand new year of 2006 with family and friends. As our glasses clinked (hint: Goya pear nectar helps hide the fact that your champagne cost $2.49 a bottle) I thought about the twelve months to come, stretching out ahead of me full of possibility.

Soon enough the warm champagne-induced glow faded and I realized the new year would probably be pretty much the same as the old one, and 2006 did indeed end up being exactly like 2005 only much, much worse. No matter. We’re almost through it and once again a brand new year looms large, filled with hope and promise. I hope 2007 brings you nothing but the very best life has to offer; that it’s the best year ever… at least until 2008 arrives!

Now if you’ll excuse me I’m off to Wegmans for some Goya pear nectar.

Happy Hour

Revitalize Buffalo is hosting a happy to be (back) home for the holidays happy hour at Sidebar tonight (1459 Hertel Avenue), 7 PM.  Come with old friends and make some new ones!

See you there…

Santa and the Food Bank

Thanks to all those who helped with Santaland this year.  We were able to donate 1,000+ pounds of food as well as $1,000+ in cash to the Food Bank of WNY.  Without your generous support, that would not have been possible.

Merry Christmas!

Santaland

Well…posting has been very light because we’re in the throes of Santaland out at Chestnut Ridge Park in Orchard Park.  We’ve survived one weekend - there were about 350 kids that came through over two days and everyone had a great time.

We’re looking forward to next weekend.  We are also looking for some more volunteers.  If you are able to volunteer next weekend, especially in the afternoon, please e-mail us at: santaland2006@gmail.com and let us know!

Thanks to all the volunteers who have made it a success so far - especially Santa!
