Give the chance, I love sharing things that people may not know about. So, I wanted to share this incredible website. Chuck LaChiusa, man about the greater Buffalo area, created, maintains and adds to this amazing website of all things architecture and history in Buffalo. You can find beautiful pictures and detailed historical information on any and everything. If you can’t find it, it’s likely to be on his list of additions to the site.

Party on the Portico!

PARTY ON THE PORTICO HAPPY HOUR FEATURES WENDELL RIVERA’S LATIN JAZZ ENSEMBLE

For $10, Guests Receive Beer, Wine, Food, Live Music, Museum Tours, and Great Views

Buffalo, N.Y. – July 7, 2008 – The Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society will continue its third-annual Party on the Portico summer happy hour series on Friday, July 18 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at its museum building, located at 25 Nottingham Court at Elmwood Avenue.

At each Party on the Portico, guests enjoy live music, beer, wine, hors d’oeuvres, and great views of Mirror Lake, Delaware Park, and the Japanese Garden from the steps of the museum.

Guests also receive complimentary 15-minute guided mini-tours of the museum’s two new featured exhibits, Shaking Hands and Kissing Babies, a history of presidential campaigns, and Cathedrals of Industry, a display of large-format photographs of the Colonel Ward Pumping Station.

The series, which runs once a month on Friday evenings, showcases some of Western New York’s most popular musical acts. The July 18 event features the danceable music of Wendell Rivera’s Latin Jazz Ensemble.

The final Party on the Portico of 2008 will be August 22, with Babik performing upbeat gypsy jazz in the vein of Django Reinhardt.

Bloomin’ Wines and Desserts

The Buffalo Federation of Women’s Clubs is proud to present “Bloomin’ Wines and Deserts”, our First Annual Fund Raiser, on Saturday, August 2, 2008.

The event, held at the Buffalo Central Terminal will include not only sampling and sales of New York State wines, but desserts, food vendors, a Farmer’s Market, music, local vendors, an auction and much, much more.

The event itself opens at 11am featuring food and other vendors, with wine sampling and purchases from 12noon to 4pm.

Admission is $15 .00 and tickets can be purchased here.

If you’ve never been inside the Central Terminal it is definitely worth it!
